Rederij Friendship, located on the beautiful Oudezijds Voorburgwal in Amsterdam, is looking for enthusiastic and skilled skippers to join our crew for the summer season of 2025.
As we gear up for another bustling season, we’re preparing to welcome thousands of guests to enjoy our luxury canal cruises and privates tours 7 days a week. To make this experience unforgettable, we are looking for talented skippers who are passionate about Amsterdam and hospitality.

Who Are We Looking For?
As a skipper, you will collaborate with our host to ensure guests have an extraordinary experience on board. You’ll guide them past the most beautiful spots in the city and share stories about Amsterdam’s hidden gems—all while ensuring a smooth, safe, and enjoyable ride.

Requirements:
- Possession of a Sailing License and a VHF Radio Certificate (or actively working to obtain them).
- Passion for boats, sailing, and the city of Amsterdam.
- A service-oriented mindset to give all guests a warm and memorable welcome.
- Strong proficiency in Dutch and English.
- A positive, professional, and representative attitude.
- The ability to handle stress and work well in a team.
- Available for at least 2 days a week starting February 2025 with one day in the weekend and flexibility to work throughout the summer season of 2025.

Join Our Team as a Host/Hostess for Summer 2025!
The summer season of 2025 is approaching, and we’re gearing up for another busy and exciting year! Starting in March, we’ll welcome thousands of guests, 7 days a week, to enjoy our luxurious canal tours and private cruises in Amsterdam.
To make this possible, we’re looking for friendly, enthusiastic, and spontaneous hosts/hostesses to strengthen our crew. Do you want to work on the most beautiful boats in Amsterdam for a company that values luxury, quality, sustainability, and friendship? And are you excited to give our guests an unforgettable experience on the canals? Then we’d love to meet you!
What We’re Looking For in You:
- Passion for hospitality, boating, and the city of Amsterdam.
- A service-oriented attitude; you aim to provide the best possible experience.
- Experience in hospitality.
- Strong proficiency in English and other languages are considered favorable.
- Stress-resistant; you can stay calm even when things get busy.
- Good physical condition and a positive, representative appearance.
- A team player who thrives when working with others.
- Flexible availability starting in February for at least 2 days a week, including one weekend day.
- Availability during July and August.
What does the job entail?
As a host/hostess, you’ll ensure our guests have an exceptional experience. You’ll share fun facts about Amsterdam, whilst serving the perfect cocktail and creating a welcoming atmosphere onboard. Working alongside the skipper, you’ll make every canal tour and private cruise unique.
Your tasks will include:
- Preparing the boat with the skipper before departure.
- Welcoming guests and providing information to interested passersby at the dock.
- Ensuring safety on board and acting appropriately in case of emergencies.
- Sharing your passion for Amsterdam by pointing out highlights and hidden gems.
- Serving drinks and making sure the guests feel comfortable and cared for.
